NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Saints have placed nose tackle John Jenkins on the physically unable to perform list just days before the start of training camp. Jenkins hasn't practiced this offseason because of a pectoral injury.

PONCHATOULA, La. (AP) - Hundreds of junior athletes and their families from 10 states will soon come to Tangipahoa Parish for a week to participate in the 2014 Dixie Softball World Series. Opening ceremonies for the tournament will be held Aug. 1.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced several changes to its postseason venues, including moving the football championships from Jackson to the campus stadiums at Mississippi State and Mississippi. MHSAA executive director Don Hinton said Monday that the football championships will be played at Mississippi State's Davis Wade Stadium in 2014 and 2016 and at Ole Miss' Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in 2015 and 2017.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Texas A&M defensive lineman Gavin Stansbury has left the team to focus on what coach Kevin Sumlin calls "personal issues." Stansbury had been a star on last season's Aggie defensive front, playing in 10 games and recording 47 total tackles and three sacks.
