Emily Wood

Emily Wood joined News Channel 12 in December 2006 as a general assignment reporter. Emily has previously worked as a general assignment reporter for the ABC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri; the NBC affiliate in Quincy, Illinois; and for PBS-WYCC in Chicago. Emily was recognized for her achievements in reporting and won the Society of Professional Journalists award for Broadcast Journalism.

Her work also includes producing an award-winning documentary—"The Hope and Heartache of Autism"—which aired during primetime on PBS and has since become the voice of the community.

Emily graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Emily is proud to be a Northwestern Wildcat, but she grew up in the Ozark Mountains of Southern Missouri.

While living in Chicago, Emily also authored and taught an empowerment program for teenage girls. She considers the curriculum one of her most important accomplishments.

When she's not reporting and writing; Emily is active with her church, enjoys baking pies, working out, and spending time with her crazy German family. Emily is an avid dancer and especially likes salsa, bachata, and merengue.
