Ken South

Storm Team 12 Meteorologist

Ken became a full-time weekend weather and news reporter in December of 1991 at WXVT (Greenville, MS). The following December, he was promoted to Chief Meteorologist of WXVT. He then went to WTVM (Columbus, GA) in December of '93 for a weekend weather/weekday reporter and ended up at WJTV in Jackson in December '94. Do you see a pattern with the month of December?

When he's not reporting the weather, Ken is attempting to restore his older home. "It's a long-term project."

He's a Mississippian through and through. Ken was born in Houston, Mississippi, and raised in Natchez. Even his parents grew up in the Magnolia State. "All my family's here - my parents, grandparents, three sisters - two older and one younger, three nephews and two nieces."

Ken has reported information in a variety of ways and situations. He's reported from just about everything possible in the air - airplane, helicopter, hot air balloon, and blimp. And he's had some pretty interesting experiences on the ground. "One time, I was sent out to cover a flood as a one-man-band and while I was shooting a stand-up a bluff that had been supporting a washed-out bridge collapsed behind me! I didn't get too wet!"
