Ridgeland Double Murder Update

Ridgeland police hope an interview with the fiancee of a murdered pregnant woman will lead them to more clues about her death.

News Channel 12 has learned more about the man police say could provide important information about the case.

Lieutenant Neal says police and the attorney for Keyon Pittman are trying to set up a time to talk with Pittman.

He could be questioned by police as early as Wednesday.

News Channel 12 has also learned Pittman has a domestic violence conviction in Vicksburg.

Police Chief Tommie Moffet confirms pittman was arrested and convicted of domestic violence, but Chief Moffet would not go into details and required WJTV to file a Freedom of Information Request.

Avis Banks was found murdered in the Ridgeland home where she lived along with Pittman.

Bank's husband to be found her shot and stabbed in the garage.

She was five months pregnant.

Right now, the only official suspect in this case is former Jackson teacher Carla Hughes.

She is charged with two counts of capital murder: one for Avis Banks and the other for Bank's unborn child.

She is behind bars at the Madison County Jail.

Her bond has not been set.

Hughes is a former teacher at Chastain Middle School in Jackson.

She taught language arts and was a cheerleading sponsor.

Pittman was also a teacher at the school.

Hughes resigned shortly after her arrest last week.
