For the next three months, the Jackson Police Department is targeting prostitutes and their "Johns." Police have already arrested 4 people in what police are calling Operation Cupid.
Female officers, posing as prostitutes, hit the streets looking for men who were looking for sex. Police say these "Johns" are coming in from across the county.
Officers with the gun team and the vice and narcotics unit are running the joint operation.
"We have done these operations before and have caught quite a few violators," said Commander L.C. Russell of the Vice and Narcotics unit. "We get several several complaints from the neighbors, the neighborhood, community meetings about this going on."
The officers posing as prostitutes are wearing wires. Once the "John's" consent to sex, she tells them to come to a local motel where officers are waiting."
"If we stop the small problems, maybe some of the big problems go away," said Russell.
The 30 year J.P.D. veteran says he wants to clean-up the streets.
