HAZLEHURST, Miss. (WJTV) - A local shooting streamed live.
A Brookhaven man accused of being the shooter in that video made his initial court appearance the day after a man was shot in the thigh over the weekend.
Police are using that shocking clip, that has since been shared thousands of times, as evidence as they move forward with this case
Investigators say Willie Reese was shot Sunday morning at the America's Best Value Inn.
He is still in the hospital listed in stable condition.
Police have not said exactly what led up to the shooting.
However, in the video the victim walks in on Daniel Jackson and a woman in that hotel room.
Jackson turned himself in and had been held at the Copiah County Detention Center.
Police say because the crime played out on video, it makes things easier for them
"A couple of citizens reached out to just ask me if I had knowledge of the video; and at the time, I didn't but later on some people shared it with me," said Chief Byron Swilley with the Hazlehurst Police Department.
Police say everyone involved has been cooperative.
Jackson has been given a $10,000 bond and had been charged with aggravated assault and will have another appearance in court soon.
