JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — One of the suspects police were still looking for in a June murder investigation is in custody.
Commander Tyree Jones of Jackson Police said 31-year-old Corey Allen Smith turned himself in Friday. He was wanted for murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
In June 2016, officials said 30-year-old William Potts died at the hospital after he was shot in the chest. Police said Potts and two others were in a car on University Boulevard near Cherry Street after 11:30 p.m. when the shooting happened.
The victims' drove to the hospital after they were shot. The driver was shot in the foot, and a passenger was shot in the chest.
Authorities said four men approached the vehicle and opened fire.
Robby Lewis and Preston Lewis were arrested in July in connection with this crime.
In October, WJTV reported that police were still looking for Smith and 24-year-old Jeremy Lewis.
