Attorneys for teenager allegedly assaulted by Jackson police officer file notice with the city

JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) - An attorney for the family of a young man allegedly assaulted by a Jackson Police officer has filed a notice of claim with the City of Jackson.

The notice gives the City 120 days to provide an explanation and to meet with the family to come up with a resolution to the situation.

John Knight III says he was pulled over early Monday morning on I-55 near County Line Road. The 19-year-old says the officer pulled him out of the vehicle, slammed him on the ground and put a pistol to the back of his head.

Attorney Dennis Sweet says they are giving the City an opportunity to do the right thing and try to resolve the situation before taking any action with the courts.
