Four Jackson students 'have it their way' with scholarships from Burger King

JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) - Four Jim Hill High School students can 'have it their way' a little more often thanks to Burger King.

The students received a $1-thousand college scholarship from the Burger King McLemore Foundation.

Michael Lawrence, Jessica Leggett, Taylor Adams and Nicholas Wright are among 3,400 scholars receiving this recognition nationally.

The scholarships are funded solely by customer donations.

“A $1 donation makes a difference, especially when it happens 187,000 times. It is important to recognize the countless members of our restaurant teams nationwide who collectively raised the funds to fulfill these grants. They are making an indelible impact on the lives of the scholars and their academic pursuits, said Tom Garrett, CEO of GPS Hospitality which sponsors the award.

Recipients were selected by the Foundation based on their grade point average, extracurricular activities, community service and work experience.
