Jackson Police investigate after 2 shot on Emmett Ave.

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - The Jackson Police Department is investigating after two people are shot.
 
It happened near the corner of Emmett Avenue and Cromwell Street just before 1:30 Thursday afternoon.
 
According to Sgt. Roderick Holmes, the two victims were taken to the hospital by a private car. He said a 28-year-old black man was shot multiple times. A second 29-year-old black man was shot in the foot.
 
The two victims reportedly told officers they were leaving a store, when they believed they were being followed by multiple cars. The victims' car was allegedly blocked by the others at the corner of the roads. They said multiple black males got out of the car and fired shots at them before leaving the scene.
 
Sgt. Holmes said the 28-year-old victim is in critical but stable condition. The second victim is expected to be okay.
 
Investigators are working to get information about the suspects and cars involved in the shooting.
