Teen accused of making threats against Canton schools in custody

CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) -- A teen is in custody in connection with a threat made against Canton schools.

The Canton Public School District and law enforcement officers held a news conference Monday to update the public about the case.

Authorities said they arrested a 16-year-old on Saturday.

The school district said the teen had been expelled from one of the schools.

Canton Public Schools were put on lockdown Friday after they received a social media message that someone was threatening a school shooting at CHS and Porter Middle.

The teen could face a cyberstalking charge.
