Victim succumbs to injuries after fight, shooting marks Jackson's 65th homicide in 2016

WJTV - JACKSON, Mississippi (WJTV) Jackson Police are investigating what is now the city's 65th homicide.

Commander Tyree Jones with the Jackson Police Department says officers responded at approximately 11:00pm on December 8, 2016 to a call at Merit Health about someone with a gunshot wound being brought to the emergency room there by a private vehicle.

Police say 35-year-old Larry Gaylor was allegedly shot once in the chest during an argument with his girlfriend, 28-year-old Kenisha Johnson.

The incident took place at the Summer Park Apartments located at 2010 Chadwick Drive.  Johnson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.  Those charges will now be upgraded to murder.

Commander Jones says the investigation is continuing.
