Mother's Lounge unveiled at CE Roy Community Center

HATTIESBURG, Miss.(WHLT) - Mothers in Hattiesburg now have a place to nurse on the go.

This week Mayor Toby Barker, members of the Mayoral Health Council and Millie Swan, Vice-President of Forrest of Forrest Health, revealed the Mother's Lounge at CE Roy Community Center located at 300 East 5th Street.

The idea for the lounge first came about through the Mayoral Health Council during the last administration.

On the inside of the room is a chair, books, toys and a changing table donated by Forrest General Hospital.

Mayor Toby Barker says this lounge is just the first of many in Hattiesburg.

"We are excited about this development because it's our role as a city to really champion the idea of public health... We hope to do a new Mother's Lounge each quarter for the next couple of years."

The Mother's Lounge is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
