JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) - The Mississippi Poor People's Campaign will spend every Monday for the next six weeks at the State Capitol Building calling for action.
Dozens turned out today, singing and chanting for change.
Mississippi is the first state of thirty to coordinate efforts highlighting the plight of the poor.
Today their call to action consisted of a little civil disobedience by walking from the Capitol to High Street and blocking traffic. Jackson Police were called and activists were removed from the street.
Activists say they'll spend the next forty days focusing on new programs to lift people out of poverty.
