JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) - Weekend storms generated five tornados sprinkle across Central Mississippi with one to the North and one near the Coast.

Lafayette County Emergency Management identified two tornado tracks in northeastern Lafayette County, MS from storms during the pre-dawn hours Saturday. One tornado touched down for approximately a mile reaching 90 mph.The tornado developed in a wooded area west of
County Road 215. The tornado damaged the roofs of several homes and farm buildings, and destroyed 3 smaller outbuildings. After crossing CR 215, the tornado caused EF-1 damage to a residence
and uprooted several trees in the vicinity. The tornado dissipated roughly 1/4 mile east of CR 215.
A Tornado in Lafayette County Mississippi reached 75 mph traveled a half mile. The tornado moved along Highway 30 to the east and north of Oxford. The tornado uprooted several trees and caused
minor roof damage to homes along Highway 30.
In Jackson County, a tornado touched down in St. Martin, just south of Lemoyne Boulevard and tracked to the northeast ending near I-10 and MS Highway 609. Most of the damage occurred at a strip mall shopping center. Plate glass windows were blown out and a portion of the roof was ripped off. Several cars were overturned. Experts estimate this tornado reached 105 mph.
