UPDATE: Missing Columbus man found safe

UPDATE: Columbus Police said 72-year-old Fred Grissett has been found safe. Investigators believe he drove himself to Tuscaloosa, Alabama Thursday night.

We're told he is with Tuscaloosa officers now, and his family on the way to pick him up.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WJTV) - The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for a missing Columbus man.

Investigators told us 72-year-old Fred Grissett was last seen in the 2000 block of Highway 45 in Columbus near the Belk department store Thursday night. He was reportedly driving a white 2014 Nissan Pathfinder bearing a Mississippi, University of Alabama, specialty plate 2959CT.

He was last seen wearing a gray University of Alabama shirt with three white stripes and a crimson "A" on it, cream-colored khaki pants and a gray baseball hat.

Grissett is described as a white male, six feet, two inches tall with brown and gray hair and brown eyes. He weighs 185 pounds.

Family members told investigators he suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment.
