JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) - The opioid crisis was the topic of the day here in the Magnolia State. And for a very good reason.
U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams met with Governor Phil Bryant and other leaders to be briefed on the state of opioid addiction in Mississippi and what solutions are gaining ground.
The Surgeon General says he chose this state because it ranks high on the list of states dealing with the crisis.
"We hear bad news all the time. We hear about how many people are dying and how many people are using substances. I'm here today to hear about recovery and how people are overcoming this epidemic," said Adams.
