FLOWOOD, Miss. (WJTV) - The 5th annual Spaytacular is set for this Saturday night at Table 100 in Flowood.
Spaytacular, presented by the Petco Foundation, is the biggest fund raiser of the year for Mississippi Spay and Nueter, and the work they do is so crucial.
If you love animals and having a good time, there's a party coming up Saturday night that's just for you. Spaytacular is back at Table 100. This year's theme is "Around the World".
Shelby Parsons handles communications of the Mississippi Spay and Neuter. She says, "It's all about traveling, maps, sailing, flying, however people like to travel."
Last year's Spaytacular sold out, so it's a good idea to make your move.
Shelby advises, "If people have not gotten their tickets, they need to get them now, otherwise they might be turned away at the door."
You can do that online or by calling the Big Fix Clinic. For your money you'll get a great dinner, live and world music, and chance to take part in a silent auction, raffles and more. It's all about raising awareness and money for Mississippi Spay and Neuter.
Shelby says, "It's a really expensive procedure, because it's a surgical procedure done by a licensed veterinarian, so the price that people pay at our clinic is subsidized by donations that people make to our cause."
It's an important cause.
Shelby shares some eye-popping numbers, "2 cats, 7 years, 420,000 offspring from those two cats and their offspring because they all breed with one another. They don't discriminate."
In it's 5th year, it's hard to imagine how many lives have been saved through Spaytacular.
Shelby says, "The more cats and dogs that we spay and neuter, the less cats and dogs are going into shelters, and subsequently dying because they can't find a home."
That's a reason to celebrate.
This year tools will be included in the silent auction along with gift certificates to many local establishments, items for your Easter basket and maybe even a trip or two.
Spaytacular is also a great place to meet other people who love animals.
