JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A law enforcement official says it's not clear who shot and wounded a U.S. Marshals task force agent during the search for a murder suspect in Jackson. The wounded officer is a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agent assigned to the task force. His stomach was grazed by a shot yesterday during the search of a house.
RIPLEY, Miss. (AP) - Industrial Timber is expanding operations at its facilities in Shannon, Miss., in Lee County and Ripley, Miss., in Tippah County. The manufacturer of wood furniture frames announced today that the expansions represent a $1.5 million corporate investment and will create 80 new jobs.
HURLEY, Miss. (AP) - Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd has been replaced as grand marshal in the annual Christmas parade in Hurley. Byrd is facing multiple criminal charges - one federal charge in Alabama and 31 state charges in Mississippi. As part of a plea agreement, Byrd is expected to plead guilty on Dec. 10 in federal court in Mobile to one felony count.
