STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Dak Prescott threw for a career-high 284 yards and four touchdowns, including two to De'Runnya Wilson, and Mississippi State cruised to a 49-0 victory over Southern Mississippi in the season-opener for both teams on Saturday night. The Bulldogs dominated from the outset, needing nine plays on the opening drive to cruise 87 yards downfield. Prescott ended the drive by finding Wilson for a wide open 25-yard touchdown pass - the first of many offensive highlights.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - DeSean McKenzie hauled in the winning touchdown in the final seconds to lift Jackson State to a 22-17 win over Florida A&M in the season opener for both teams Saturday night. The 60-yard TD pass from LaMontiez Ivy spoiled what would have been a fourth quarter comeback win for Florida A&M, which retook the lead with just 46 seconds to go on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Damien Fleming to Gerald Hearns.

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) - Darryan Ragsdale threw for one touchdown and rushed for two more as Alcorn State rolled to a 55-7 win over Virginia Lynchburg on Saturday. Ragsdale got the Braves off to a quick start in their season opener, connecting with Jordan Payne for a touchdown on their opening drive.

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) - Julian Stafford's touchdown reception and Jerrell Moore's touchdown run helped Mississippi Valley State beat University of Faith 32-7 to open the season for both teams on a rainy Saturday. Stafford's touchdown gave Mississippi Valley an 18-7 lead with 2:40 left in the first half, and the score remained unchanged until Moore's 37-yard TD run late in the fourth.
