Rain Chances Continue into Tuesday

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Hello! I'm WNCT 9 First Alert Meteorologist David Sawyer with your forecast for eastern North Carolina.

TONIGHT: Scattered shower and thunderstorm chances will be low, but not zero through the overnight hours. We'll call for a 30% percent of rain and perhaps a thunderstorm overnight.  Lows will be similar to last night, in the lower 70's inland and mid to upper 70's along the coast. We may see some areas of patchy fog.

TUESDAY:  Expect another chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms with afternoon highs in the lower to middle 80's.  Winds will be light except when gusting higher around any stronger storms or heavy downpours.

UNSETTLED WEATHER CONTINUES: Wednesday and Thursday will feature summer like storm chances; a front will slide into the region late Thursday into Friday to increase rain chances and may spark a few stronger storms. This will likely be the only chance we have a threat of strong to severe weather. The front will stall offshore for Saturday and Sunday as the Bermuda high edges closer to the area, helping to keep a chance for some showers and storms in the forecast for the upcoming weekend.

TROPICS:  A weak area of low pressure has now become Tropical Depression Two far out in the Atlantic Ocean, halfway between the Leeward Islands and the west coast of Africa. Because of expected hostile conditions preventing rapid development of this tropical system, the official forecast from The National Hurricane Center has T.D. Two remaining below tropical storm status during the next 3 days before falling apart.  At this time, Tropical Depression Two presents no threat to the United States.
