The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy will be hosting a Free Health Fair at the Jackson Medical Mall on Tuesday, February 26, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
An interdisciplinary student team from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and The University of Mississippi Medical Center Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Related Professions are raising awareness about the health consequence of not taking medication as directed. This health fair is supported by the Script Your Future campaign. The Script Your Future campaign is a national coalition of more than 130 public and private stakeholder organizations, led by the National Consumers League (NCL). The campaign provides tools to help patients and health care professionals better communicate about ways to improve medication adherence. The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation, the American Medical Association (AMA), and the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) have come together and issued this Adherence Challenge.
We would love to get the word out to the local community through media, community calendar, etc. We are excited to provide this opportunity to educate the public about the importance of medication adherence. Screenings will include blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.
