Brad Soroka anchors the weekend evening newscasts at WJTV News Channel 12 after joining the WJTV news team in April, 2011. Before moving to the Magnolia State, Brad anchored and reported at WLUC in Michigan's snowy Upper Peninsula. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Brad is a proud graduate of Pittsburgh's Point Park University. During college, he interned at WTAE in Pittsburgh and at FOX News Channel in New York City with Mississippi's own Shepard Smith.
His most memorable stories include covering the Mighty Mississippi flood of 2011 and Hurricane Isaac along the Gulf Coast in 2012. "The night the river reached its peak, I interviewed people who were partying. Some hadn't seen their home in days; many didn't know how bad the damage would be when they returned. They didn't care. They were happy," Brad says. "And the night Isaac made landfall, the Mayor of Pass Christian didn't want my photographer and me to drive back to our hotel. He invited us to stay at his house. That is southern hospitality. That is what Mississippi is all about."
Brad is proud to be a member of this news team and hopes you enjoy his work as much as he enjoys delivering it.
