Ridgeland -
A local group is encouraging healthy living.
They're based in Ridgeland and have formed a group to encourage people to become healthier by eating right, exercising regularly, and putting aside bad habits like smoking.
Ridgeland is competing with other cities and towns across the state to be named "Healthiest Hometown in Mississippi" by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation.
A $50,000 award will go to the winner.
The money will be used for community health and wellness opportunities.
