JACKSON- Thursday was HIV/AIDS Day at the State Capitol.
Advocates and victims held a news conference in the rotunda. They're asking lawmakers to expand Medicaid. Right now, lawmakers are debating whether or not to expand the program. Advocates say expanding Medicaid will help HIV victims get treated.
They're also asking lawmakers to increase funding. Funding will go to more research, sex education, housing for HIV victims, and an anti-stigma campaign.
Nearly 10,000 Mississippians have HIV, and half of them have AIDS.
