Velma Jackson wins 3A Boys Championship

Velma Jackson defeated Booneville 45-44 in the boys 3A Championship game Friday afternoon.

Velma Jackson (27-8) trailed by seven points going into the fourth quarter, but rallied for the first state title in school history.
 
Quinndary Weatherspoon added 11 points for the Falcons. Greenwood was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
 
Jack Nichols led Booneville (28-6) with a game-high 18 points. Kenny Paul Geno added 11 points for the Blue Devils, who reached the state championship game for the third straight season, winning the title in 2011.
