
JACKSON (AP) - Joshua Carroll scored a game-high 21 points to lift Murrah past Madison Central 63-54 in the boys Mississippi 6A state championship game on Saturday night.
It's the Mustangs' fifth state championship in school history and first since 2005. Murrah shot 48% (18 of 37) from the field. Carroll shot 7 of 17 from the field and was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
Jacob Ivory added 13 points for the Mustangs (24-9).
Joniah White led Madison Central with 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Rodriques Palmer added 13 points and Xavian Stapleton chipped in 12 points for the Jaguars (25-9).
