TJ has been with WJTV since August of 2010 and is no stranger to the South. A Navy brat growing up, his family's last stop was in Millington, TN, just north of Memphis. He lived there from 7th grade through high school. From there he went on to The University of Memphis.
TJ graduated magna cum laude from Memphis in May of 2008, where he was a sports reporter for the school's independent newspaper 'The Daily Helmsman.' He was also the sports director of 'Insight,' the school's weekly newscast.
After college, TJ worked as a production assistant at WREG in Memphis before landing his first full-time job with KAAL in Rochester, MN. He worked as news photographer for 10 months before getting his dream job as the weekend sports anchor in October of 2009.
The highlight of his time in the frozen tundra was covering the AL Central tie-breaker game between Detroit and Minnesota in 2009, a game the Twins won 6-5 in 12 innings. That game was also the last regular season game played at the Metrodome. TJ covered the Twins' first game at the brand-new Target Field against the Red Sox the following spring.
TJ is living his dream covering the SEC for WJTV. He's covered two SEC basketball tournaments, the 2012 Gator Bowl, multiple SEC games in Oxford and Starkville, and games in Hattiesburg covering Southern Miss.
In his free time, you can find TJ working on his golf game, at the gym, or visiting his friends and family in Memphis. He lives in Ridgeland.
TJ loves telling a good story. He's won awards both in college and professionally for his work. Send him an email, give him a like http://www.facebook.com/pages/TJ-Werre-WJTV/134074286638558 or a follow https://mobile.twitter.com/TJWerreWJTV if you have any ideas.
