WJTV News Channel 12 - More Legal Trouble for Hollins

1st Amended Complaint In Hollins Case

JACKSON, MS -

There are more legal troubles for Pastor Danny Hollins of Greater Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.  News Channel 12 has learned a civil lawsuit has been filed in Hinds County Circuit Court.

The 50-year-old is accused of luring and coercing a 13-year-old to have sex with him during a church convention last summer.  The incident allegedly happened in a hotel room at the Jackson Marriott.

The document claims Hollins was negligent and is in breach of his fiduciary duty.  It also states the hotel was also negligent when employees gave the minor a key to Hollins' room.

Since this incident happened during a church conference, the Mississippi Baptist Convention, as well as the National Baptist Convention, is also being held responsible.

The lawsuit references about 20 un-named individuals who knew about the incident and did not act.

Attorneys claim the minor "has suffered severe emotional distress, mental pain and suffering."  The minor wants to be paid for damages caused by Hollins, as determined by a jury, as well as punitive damages caused by the defendants.

A chancery court judge reinstated Hollins as minister at Greater Fairview Missionary Baptist Church after members voted him out as leader of the congregation.

A criminal case is still waiting to be presented to a Hinds County grand jury.  District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith tells us it could happen in the next few weeks.

We reached out to the attorneys of both Hollins and the minor, but neither one was available for comment.
