A six-year-old gets the surprise of a lifetime, and our cameras were there to capture the moment. Sergeant James Knight just got home today after an eight-month deployment to Afghanistan. He surprised his son, who is a kindergartner at Oakdale Elementary School in Brandon.
"(I'm) happy, really really happy," exclaims Jayden Knight.
Sgt. Knight is an interrogator in the U.S. Army. He says his deployment kept him so busy that he could only skype with his family about twice a month.
"Every time I see him he's a lot bigger. I wish I could see him more often," explains Sgt. Knight.
He missed being with his family during Christmas and on Jayden's birthday. Now that he's back, he plans to make up for every second he has missed.
"He's got a new four-wheeler that he wants to show me. And, we'll probably do a lot of outdoor things probably," continues Sgt. Knight.
Unfortunately, this trip home may not last long. Sgt. Knight says he could be sent on another deployment soon. But, he won't let that affect his time with his family.
The whole school participated in Sgt. Knight's visit. We're told this plan has been in the works for about a month.
