Georgetown Avenue Shooting

New information from the Jackson Police Department's PIO:

Jessie Whitfield, 40, was shot three times, once in the arm and twice in the leg.

Leonard White, also 40, was shot multiple times and has life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for an older model Honda Accord or Toyota Camery, green in color. The initial incident took place in the area of Medgar Evers and Enoch, the victims were shot while sitting in their vehicle. One of the victims was able to drive away from the scene and ended up in the 2400 block of Georgetown Avenue, where they were transported to the hospital.



The search is on for the person who opened fire in a Jackson neighborhood leaving two people shot.

It happened around 5:00PM, yesterday evening in front of a house on Georgetown Avenue.

When the WJTV crew arrived, they founda car full of bullet holes, the glass had been shot out on both the passenger side and the driver side.

Police say that the two people that were shot were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are not only trying to determine who is responsible for the shooting, but why they were shooting.
