Heart disease kills more people in the U.S. than the next 5 leading causes of death combined, including cancer. The young Heart Ambassadors, at Spann Elementary School, will jump rope to raise funds and bring awareness to heart disease, the No. 1 killer of all Americans. The funds raised will support lifesaving research and education programs in Mississippi and around the nation, by providing lifesaving tools and information that will focus on the prevention aspect of heart disease and stroke which are making it possible for more people to live free from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
This event supports the American Heart Association's mission to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent by 2020.
