"Operation Bunny Hop" kicks off

JACKSON, MS -

It's almost Easter weekend, and local law enforcement agencies are ramping up patrols to keep you safe. Eight Jackson area sheriff's offices and police departments are teaming up on a crime-fighting mission called "Operation Bunny Hop."

"Knuckleheads out there that have been wreaking havoc in this community, those are the ones that need to be aware," warns Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis. "They need to get somewhere and sit down tonight. This whole weekend!"

Operation Bunny Hop extends into Madison County as well.

"Sheriff Lewis and I said when we took office that we were going to bring in a new day of law enforcement where we communicate and share information and go after criminals that share our jurisdictions," explains Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker. "And we're going to do that today with Operation Bunny Hop, and we look forward to many more."

The message from law enforcement: if you're a law-abiding citizen with your drivers license, tag and insurance up to date, you've got nothing to worry about. If your license, tag or insurance is expired, you will get caught.
