A Jackson non-profit organization is doing its part to beautify the city, boost the economy and make Mississippians healthier all at the same time.
They're called the Jackson Inner-city Gardeners, and they're growing an urban garden in the city. It's right on the corner of Medgar Evers Boulevard and W. Northside Drive.
In the summer months, they sell their fruits and vegetables along the side of the road and also at local farmer's markets. Saturday, a group of volunteers from the FEMA Corps of Vicksburg re-planted blueberry bushes for the upcoming season.
The Jackson Inner-city Gardeners are always looking for volunteers.
Call Erika Roberts at 225-287-3159 or e-mail the organization at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn how you can help.
