GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Several hundred Pirate fans and ECU students welcomed the East Carolina basketball team home early Wednesday morning.

East Carolina's Akeem Richmond drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer Tuesday night to give ECU a 77-74 win over Weber State in the finals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.

Miguel Paul scored 23 points and Maurice Kemp added 20 in the victory. Kemp was also named the tournament's MVP.

The team arrived back at the Pitt-Greenville Airport at 4:30AM this morning.

"I can't believe how many people are here," said Pirate coach Jeff Lebo. "This is awesome!"

The Pirates capped off the school's best ever season in basketball with a first ever postseason tournament championship.
