Brandon Herring is a North Carolina native who lives in Fayetteville, and covers Cumberland County and the Sandhills.

Brandon grew up in Lumberton and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. At UNC, he participated in the journalism school's student newscast, "Carolina Week." He was also a proud member of the Marching Tar Heels and pep bands, and he served as president of Old East residence hall -- the first public university building in the country.

Brandon previously worked at stations in Charlotte; Dalton, Ga.; Roanoke, Va.; and Myrtle Beach, S.C. In addition to reporting in South Carolina, Brandon also produced and anchored weekend evening newscasts. He also served as Mr. Myrtle Beach, a fundraising and ambassador role for Katie's Project (www.katiesproject.org).

Brandon is passionate about doing stories that answer questions for viewers and help them understand complicated issues.

Returning to North Carolina to work as a journalist is a dream come true for Brandon.

"I truly believe reporting the news is a service to the community, and there's no place I would rather serve," Brandon said. "I feel really lucky to be in Fayetteville – so close to family in Lumberton and Southern Pines."

    Broadview Networks recently decided to find out the biggest -- by revenue -- company in each state in the US.The company used the Fortune 500 list to start with, but needed data by state, so it turned to Hoover's.With data from that company, they were able to search through each state's list of companies and then find the largest -- by revenue.Just flip through the list above and see who is the biggest in each state, what town they are based and their revenue.

    The official Algerian news agency says an Air Algerie flight from Burkina Faso to Algiers has disappeared from the radar.
