Police in Canton are searching for a man they say shot and killed a club owner after a disagreement on Friday night.
U.S. Marshals are now assisting in the search for 21-year-old Tevarius Prophet. Canton Police Chief Vicki McNeil says he has a lengthy criminal history including time served on a ten-year sentence in a burglary case.
Investigators say that on Friday night prophet was "ousted" from the Blue Door Club in the 200 block of North Hickory Street in Canton. They say he returned with a gun.
Canton Police say he shot 61-year-old Larry Porter Day once and killed him. Day was the owner of the Blue Door Club. He had apparently had issues with Prophet before.
The business owner next door, Eddie C. Smith who runs "The Open Door", says he remembers the man he knew "as down to earth"
"He was a funny guy just like I am. I mean, all of us in this area right here - we communicate to a degree, you understand? And that's the type of guy he was, I keep saying, he was just a down to earth guy. He was Larry. He was Larry. And no one would say anything negative about him to my knowledge. But I really appreciate and I really miss Larry. I really do," Smith said.
If you know anything about the whereabouts of Tevarius Prophet Canton Police ask you call them as quickly as possible.
