Monday's Most Wanted: Johnson City salon flooded

Updated:
JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

For small business owners, every day can be a struggle.

The owners of a Johnson City tanning salon recently had a major headache to handle caused by a cruel and destructive vandal.

Now, there's money on the line for the person who helps crack the case.

Imagine walking into work and finding your business flooded.

"I was completely shocked," said Sun Tan City salon director Aubrey Weaver. "When my maintenance guy came down he said you need to call the cops right now…I mean, there had to have been at least 2 inches of just standing water."

One March weekend, Weaver discovered someone climbed on top of the roof, stuck a water hose down one of the store's pipes, and turned on the spigot with a special tool.

"There was massive amounts of water in this room, and we could hear the water through the pipe back here and it was gushing leading straight down into the bed," said

The water caused thousands of dollars worth of damage.

"This bed was damaged. It took a couple of hours to get it dried out....we definitely lost some business and put our clients out as well."

Johnson City Police Lt. Steve Sherfey says the person who pulled this off faces serious charges.

"It's a vandalism charge and it's ranked as a theft so it would be a felony."

Weaver says the store owner is hopeful they'll find who did it.

"We are offering a five-thousand dollar reward for the successful prosecution of whoever is responsible for this."

Just call Crime Stoppers at 434–6158 if you have any information that can help in this case.
