A Raleigh man took a handgun from four men during an attempted robbery Wednesday night and shot two of them, police said.
Raleigh police responded to a shooting call around 10:30 p.m. on the 4900 block of Brook Knoll Place.
When officers arrived, they found 32-year-old Marcus Shu-Aib Smith suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. The injury is non-life threatening and he is listed as being in good condition.
Police said Smith was approached by four suspects while returning home. Shu-Aib was able to take a handgun from one of the suspects during their interactions.
Smith exchanged gunfire with the suspects, striking two. The four suspects then escaped in a vehicle.
Two of the suspects were dropped off at Rex Hospital by an unknown person. Barshiri Ahmed Sandy, 33, and Henry R. Surpris, 35, were treated for non-life threatening injuries at Rex before being transferred to WakeMed. Surpris is listed as being in good condition.
Arrest warrants for Sandy and Surpris will have them charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
The suspects will be transported to the Wake County Jail once they are discharged from the hospital.
