Rankin County authorities are investigating a bank robbery that happened early Saturday morning.
It took place in the town of Puckett.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey tells us just before 9:00 Saturday morning, his deputies responded to the Peoples Bank on Highway 18.
A bank teller told deputies when she arrived at the bank for work Saturday morning, she went inside and was approached by a man with a gun. The man forced the teller to unlock a safe. The man loaded an undisclosed amount of cash into a bag, then he tied-up the teller and placed her in a bathroom. The suspect stole the teller's vehicle and left the bank.
The teller was able to free herself and call 911.
Her car was found abandoned a short time later.
Deputies are following several leads.
They are looking for a white male suspect, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He is between 25 and 35 years-of-age and was last seen wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans. He is considered armed and dangerous.
