Stokes: Anderson's wife should replace him on Board

HINDS COUNTY, MS -

Following the death of Hinds County Supervisor Doug Anderson, another Supervisor is calling on Anderson's wife to fill his vacant seat.

"It's important that we put someone in place that the citizens of District 2 know and trust," says District 5 Supervisor, Kenneth Stokes. "She's already Election Commissioner in District 2. She was working side-by-side with her husband, and she knows District 2 up-and-down. But I think the most important issue is a humane position. Normally in government when someone passes, you normally appoint their spouse."

Supervisor Anderson's wife Josephine is the Election Commissioner for Hinds County's District 2.

Her husband was laid to rest Saturday following a funeral service at New Horizon Church in Jackson. Anderson passed away last week following health complications. He served on the Board from 1993 until this year.

Anderson was 74 years old.
