The Byram Police Department has three suspects in custody in the robbery of the Copiah Bank, located at 5754 Terry Rd. in Byram. At approximately 1217 hours, officers responded to a hold-up alarm at the bank. Two male subjects entered the bank and handed a note to the teller. The note informed the teller that "this is a robbery and demanded large bills." An undisclosed amount of money was given to the suspects and they fled the bank on foot.
A witness was able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle. BPD's dispatch center relayed the information to Byram Police Department officers. Byram Police Department officers, Jackson Police Department officers, and members of the Jackson-Hinds S.W.A.T. team assisted with the search for the suspect vehicle. The combined effort between the three agencies resulted in a traffic stop which led to the arrest of three suspects for the charge of Bank Robbery.
Arrested were Dave Thomas, B/M, 52 years old, Invester Williams, black male, 37 years old, and Richard Porter, black male, 34 years old.
The investigation continues and more information will be released as it comes available.
