MVSU Football Player Killed In Wreck

Four Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) student-athletes were involved in a one-car accident Thursday evening in Leflore County, Miss.

 

The driver, Kevin Monzon, 19, a junior from Crystal Springs, Miss. and member of the MVSU football team died at the scene.

 

A second passenger, Marcus Thompson, a junior from Houston, Texas was air-lifted to University Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.

 

Passengers Rogers (Kevin) James, a junior from Evans, Ga. and Joseph Hardnett a sophomore from Chicago, Ill. were transported to the Greenwood-Leflore Hospital with minor injuries.

 

The MVSU community is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kevin Monzon following this tragic accident. We express our deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences to all of his family and friends. The Valley community will continue to pray for all of those involved in this untimely accident. Counselors will be available through the University's Counseling Center for those members of the Valley family who need support during this very difficult time.
