M.D.O.C. Faces Lawsuit

Posted: Updated:

M.D.O.C. is facing a lawsuit after a guard sues the department over alleged failure to pay overtime.

Myia Norwood filed a federal lawsuit a little over two weeks ago.

M.D.O.C. reports show that she accumulated nearly 400 overtime hours--but she says she wasn't paid for them.

The class action lawsuit is against corrections commissioner Chris Epps.

Norwood is seeking both overtime pay and unspecified damages.

M.D.O.C. Spokeswoman Grace Fisher says it's department policy not to comment on pending litigation.
