JONESBOROUGH, TN (WJHL) -

What began as a 911 call about a gunman in a woman's home turned into an overnight ordeal that resulted in a standoff.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office said it all began late Monday night at a home on Conklin Road in Jonesborough.

When deputies arrived, they said could hear a heated argument inside.

Police tried to get inside the home, but that's when Jesse Nelson threatened to shoot them.

So a SWAT team was called in and eventually 74-year-old Evelyn Chesser was allowed to walk out of the house.

That's when police said Chesser told them there wasn't an armed gunman in her home. Turns out, she was covering for her son and when police figured out she was lying and told her she was under arrest - Chesser put up a fight and had to be stunned with a taser.

Meanwhile, negotiations with Nelson to surrender went unanswered. The SWAT teams fired three noise flash devices into the home, but nelson managed to fire off a shot through a wall.

Apparently he did not go down without a fighter. Police said Nelson refused to follow orders and had to be stunned with a taser and taken to the ground.

Nelson faces a list of charges including 13 counts of aggravated assault and kidnapping.

His bond was set at $701,000.
