WJTV News Channel 12 - NCAA Bans Hashtags

NCAA Bans Hashtags

Posted: Updated:

WJTV - The NCAA has banned the use of the '#' symbol on football fields because it may be used as advertising. Mississippi State is believed to be the first school in the nation to employ such a design on the playing surface.

MSU first used #HAILSTATE in one of its endzones for the 2011 Egg Bowl.  Since then they've used that same hashtag as well as other variations.

Here is a link to the full explanation of the rule released by the NCAA.
