G. A. Carmichael Family Health Center employees are once again being delayed a paycheck.
They received a memo May 1st stating they wouldn't be getting paid on their scheduled pay date, Friday May 3rd.
There is still no confirmed date of when those employees will receive another check.
News Channel 12's Perrise Thomas spoke with a former doctor with the clinic, who says she hasn't been paid in over a year.
"My dedication to the community in which I serve, and the patients that are there in Yazoo county has really been the driving force behind me staying there." says Dr. Colette Scott
While employees at G. A. Carmichael's Family Health Centers have been delayed a check two pay periods in a row, Dr. Colette Scott says she was recently laid off and has been working for over a year without pay.
"We're talking about approximately a 100-mile drive that I make each day in order to go and serve the patients of that community and to not be compensated for my services fairly, I think is an injustice." says Scott
Dr. Scott says she continued to work after being promised she'd be paid.
"To this date, they have yet to make good on that particular commitment."
Scott says she worked in less than ideal circumstances.
"With the electricity being off, we basically ended up having to shut the clinic down for the day."
"We have gone months without bio hazardous materials being picked up because payments were not made to the company."
Dr. Scott eventually decided to take matters into her own hands, filing a lawsuit against G. A. Carmichael in October of 2012.
"The intent here is to get Dr. Scott compensated for work she has done as medical director and to get her compensated as a physician during her employment with G. A, Carmichael." says her attorney Christinia Townsend
Dr. Scott hopes to soon get her long awaited payday and get back to doing what she loves.
