JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

A popular Johnson City eatery re-opened it's doors on Friday night after being closed for nearly a year.

Poor Richard's Campus closed it's doors in November of 2012 after nearly 4 decades in business.

New ownership re-opened the iconic Johnson City restaurant on Friday night hoping to recapture the popularity once enjoyed by generations.

Owner, Daniel Shell, said the new Poor Richard's is a joint venture with his wife. They were looking to open a new restaurant and re-opening Poor Richard's just made sense as Shell once served as manager at Poor Richard's.

Shell said the first day was both busy and exciting.

The new Poor Richard's will still offer many of the same classic menu items and famous Maxine's Tea.
