BLACKSBURG, VA -

The Hokies and Wolverines will face-off twice to start the next decade.

Virginia Tech announced Thursday that it has signed a home-and-home football series with the University of Michigan.

The games will take place in 2020, and 2021.  The Hokies will travel to Ann Arbor on September 19, 2020.  The Wolverines will come to Blacksburg on Sept. 11, 2021.

"I am pleased that Dave Brandon (Michigan AD) and I have been able to work out this agreement," Tech Director of Athletics Jim Weaver said in a news release.  "Michigan is the winningest college football program in the country, and it will be exciting to have the Wolverines come to Lane Stadium."

The schools previously faced off in the 2012 Sugar Bowl.  Michigan won the game in overtime 23-20.

The deal marks the third with a Big Ten school.  Virginia Tech plays at Ohio State in 2014, then hosts the Buckeyes in 2015.  That's followed by a two game series with Wisconsin in 2016 and 2017.
