Patrick Henry track star faces tough graduation decision

ROANOKE, VA -

Whether he's running the ball for the Patriots on the football field or working on his long jump to get ready for a possible run at the state championship, David Prince is focused.

He explains, "The long jump is Friday May 31st at around 1:00pm in Hampton."

But his graduation ceremony is the same day at 2:00pm in Roanoke.  He is in the middle of exams and trying to stay focused on what is important.

He says, "It is a tough decision. I'm not leaning anyway right now.  My whole life growing up I have always wanted to win a state track meet.  My whole family is proud of me, I know they are.  They always tell me don't get the big head."

David says he has been on four or five district teams for track.  He says as far as making this big decision he probably wont know until the week of the meet and graduation.

While he doesn't know where he will be at the end of May, there is no question where he will be this July. After standing on the sidelines for the Virginia Tech Miami game in 2011 he decided he wanted to play football for Virginia Tech.

He says, "Everybody shows you love they don't treat you different."

He hopes to play receiver saying, "I feel like I am better with the ball in my hands."

If Patrick Henry Patriot history repeats itself, then it looks like he will be looking at a bright future with the Hokies.
